The Process

Are you thinking about updating or expanding your dream project? You probably have a lot of questions and want to find a qualified company that values integrity, communication, and customer service.

Take a look at what you can expect with the home renovation process here at Ryerson Brothers Construction (RBC). We strive to be open and honest about the process, educating our clients along the journey to empower them to make the best decisions possible.

We believe that taking the time to understand our clients’ needs is a first step to success.

Getting to Know You

1. Crystal is part of our office staff, and she is our point of contact for all new potential clients. Clients can call us at (803)-524-5855 (RBC does not take texts) or email us at info@ryersonbrothers.com.

2. Crystal will ask some preliminary questions to get to know the project to determine if Ryerson can meet your needs as a potential client. (Est. timeline 1-2 days)

3. If RBC can meet your needs and you are ready to become a client, Crystal will send an email with instructions to take pictures of the space(s) you want to remodel or expand. This helps our sales team understand the project prior to making the appointment. (Est. timeline 1-2 days)

Looking at the Space

4. Once we have preliminary project pictures, Jim or Jesse will text you to set up an appointment to meet you in person, take a closer look at the space, and gather info for an introductory estimate for the requested scope of work. (Est. timeline 1-2 weeks)

5. Clients receive an introductory estimate and can decide to proceed with the process or stop here. (Est. timeline 5-7 business days)

6. For clients that are ready to start on their dream project, Jesse will create a detailed final proposal based on the introductory estimate. Info at Ryerson will invoice you the $300 proposal fee, which you can pay online. Then, you'll schedule a meeting with Jim and Jesse to walk through the proposal and contract packet step by step to answer any questions and make any necessary changes. You can sign the proposal at this meeting if you’re ready to move forward, or you can take it home and bring it back.

Making it Official

7. Once you pay your deposit, your job becomes active. Leslie will contact you within the next 3-5 business days. For the first 4-6 weeks, Leslie will be your main point of contact, helping to create a final design layout, selections, and permitting.

8. Once the deposit is paid, Leslie will reach out to you to schedule an initial meeting with herself and the superintendent assigned to your project. (Est. timeline within 1 week)

9. Leslie and the superintendent go out to your home to take measurements, understand your vision, and get a more in-depth look at the space.

Starting Selections

10. Leslie maintains contact with you until plans, permits, and selections (paint colors, plumbing fixtures, cabinets, lighting options, etc.) are complete and work is started on the house.

11. If the project requires a permit, the project superintendent will begin their planning process while the client is making selections. (Est. timeline 4-8 weeks)

12. Once all selections are done and permits are issued, Leslie and Jim will introduce you to your superintendent, who will set a start date for the project. (Est. timeline 2-3 weeks)

Remodeling Begins!

13. Then the fun starts! Walls are knocked down, cabinets are replaced, backsplashes are tiled, and the dream starts to take shape. Your project superintendent is your go-to lad or lass from here on out. They provide updates, schedule subcontractors, collect checks, solve issues, and answer questions.

14. We collect payment along the way at major project milestones. This is to ensure we complete our work to the highest standard possible and clients fulfill their financial obligations.

15. As we near the end of the project, the superintendent will create a “punch list” to make sure all the details are covered before final sign-off.

Finishing Touches

16. After clients sign off, we collect the final payment.

17. Our work is warrantied 1 year from the final sign-off date. The duration of some manufacturers’ warranties outlasts our warranty, and homeowners can follow up with the manufacturer directly.
