Professional Values and Ethics
Ryerson Brothers Construction has become a company built on the foundation stones of returned phone calls, kept appointments, delivered estimates, well-scheduled work and a tenacious eye for quality. These principles then transfer into the “bricks and mortar” of the project. Once the job is awarded, we do what we say we will. We call; we schedule; we show up. Then we do the work correctly. If a mistake is made, we correct it. Construction is not difficult – it is the putting together of very basic items. Doing it well and making the process comfortable for the customer is the difficult part. We do the DIFFICULT THINGS well! Having happy customers and a strong reputation of integrity is very important to our team. You will see and experience that if you hire us for your project.
Ryerson Brothers Construction is uncommonly good from the first phone conversation to the hand-written note at the end thanking the client for the opportunity to work for them. Every new job comes from the one that just finished – the company is built one excellent job at a time.
I have never seen anyone better than Jim is at paying attention to details. He leaves no stones unturned, does an incredible job of following up with people, makes helpful suggestions, is highly intelligent, has a wealth of experience, and ensures that all of his customers are completely satisfied. I recommend, without reservation, Jim Ryerson.
Personal Values (Family, Faith, and Focus)
First and foremost, I am a Christian who believes that all things flow FROM, are directed BY and are dedicated TO God, the gracious and mighty Creator of this world and my Lord. Those basic principles drive me and have provided me the opportunity to wear several “hats” throughout my career. Though currently a contractor, I started my career as a middle school band director (Bachelors in Music Ed, FSU 1992). It was there that I learned that I was able to organize and administrate large amounts of information, people and projects and to do it all WELL. A class full of energetic, 7th grade boys with instruments will do that for you! Over the years, I have used this gift and these experiences to effectively lead companies, teams, projects, work groups, families, music, youth groups, worship and construction, both here in the states and overseas. Now, I use those gifts to “minister”, because all of life is worship, to home and business owners as a contractor.
Ryerson Brothers Construction, therefore, is the culmination of many experiences and a vision to build a company that simply exudes confidence, commitment, faithful longevity, and unwavering quality… core values that I and my wife desire to pass on to our six children as a strong heritage in the upstate of South Carolina. Our family moved to Rock Hill, SC in early 2009 with the need to be near extended family and a strong desire to start a construction company that was built upon the firm foundation of my 11 years of experience in the industry in Florida. We have done just that and now have a strong company that is consistently impacting our local community in homes, schools, churches and businesses throughout York, Chester and Lancaster counties.
I am often asked who the “brothers” are and if I have a brother that is a partner in the business. I do have a brother, but he is not involved in the company. The company name refers to our four sons, though I would be grateful to also have my two daughters involved. The hope would be for a few of the children to someday join the company and partner with me to spread excellence in the Upstate. In fact, all of our children are already an integral part of the business because they are the reason I go to work each day. Before the company or any business dealing, my children are the heritage that is now being built- the company is provision for them and a venue for teaching our family honorable principles like dedication, hard work, quality, honesty, integrity, and the basics of entrepreneurship and economics. In addition, our boys do help with projects and office work. They are often with me as I visit job sites, meet with clients, and are hands-on with several of our smaller projects.
